The Kent County Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility has been awarded a 2008 Environmental Achievement Award from the US EPA's Region III. The award was based upon its Environmental Health and Safety Management System (EHS-MS),

Kent County Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility (KCRWTF) Going Green
The KCRWTF under the direction of its Sustainability Management System (SHS) also known as the Environmental, Health and Safety Management System (EHS-MS) is going green. The facility is switching from chlorine gas disinfection to UV disinfection, adding 800 kW of photvoltaic solar power, piloting a passive solar biosolids treatment facility, and installing a wastewater heat exchanger based HVAC system for its administration building.

The Department of Public Works, Engineering Division and Wastewater Facilities Division are responsible for the Design, Construction and Maintenance of Kent County's Regional Sewer System, and operation of the Kent County Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility and associated pump stations and sewer lines. UNDER THE SINK GREASE TRAP CHANGES
COMING IN 2012
In early 2007, the Kent County Levy Court approved a change in the Kent County Code that requires all under the sink grease traps be converted to include an automatic grease recovery system. A link to a list of manufacturers of these types of traps can be found on the fats, oils and grease (FOG) page.

SEWER ADVISORY BOARD (SAB)

NEXT SEWER ADVISORY BOARD (SAB) MEETING WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2010
The Sewer Advisory Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at
5:00 p.m. in Room 220 A&B at 555 Bay Rd., Dover, DE 19901.

Licensed Septage and Grease Haulers List Online
The current list of licensed septage and grease haulers for Kent County is now available by clicking the link below. In order to haul septic tank wastes (septage) and grease to the Kent County Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility, a hauler must be licensed and permitted by both DNREC and Kent County. Currently, grease cannot be hauled to the treatment plant until the new receiving stations are on line sometime in the new two months.
