Commissioner Jim Hosfelt, the Republican representative for the 2nd District Kent County Levy Court is currently serving the remainder of a four year term set to expire in 2018. Commission Hosfelt prevailed in a special election to fill a vacancy in the Court. Commissioner Hosfelt, originally from Cumberland, Maryland, arrived in Dover, Delaware in 1980 with the U.S. Air Force and following assignments in Korea and Rapid City, South Dakota settled in Dover. He has been a resident of Levy Court’s 2nd District for the past 28 years.
Family: Jim is married to Sherry (Robinette) Hosfelt and has two adult children, Jenna (husband Dale Starke) and Jacob (fiancée Michelle Kimmick). Jenna is a registered nurse and Jacob serves in the United States Air Force.
Education: Graduated from Allegany High School, Cumberland, Maryland; Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Delaware Technical and Community College; Graduate of the FBI National Academy, Quantico, Virginia; Graduate Delaware State Police Academy.
Employment: Veteran U.S. Air Force; Retired Chief of Police, Dover Police Department; Dover City Council, 1st District; Currently, Director of Public Safety and Track Operations at Dover International Speedway.
