Dover, DE – On Saturday, June 15th, 2013, from 10AM – 2PM at Brecknock Park, Camden Delaware, Kent County will host Safe Summer Day (SSD).
Now in its 15th year, SSD brings together safety and health professionals and a number of entertainment specialists to ensure the community starts the summer season off with safety in mind.
SSD is a multi-agency event (over 40 agencies participating), which includes for example Kent County Levy Court, Delaware Solid Waste Authority, Delaware State Fire School, Kent County Fire Company Auxiliaries, Safe Kids Delaware, Delaware Office of Highway Safety, Delaware State Police, 512 Civil Engineer Squadron and the 436th Airlift Wing of the Dover AFB, Kent County Volunteer Firefighters Association, DelDot, U of D, Kent County Fire Police, Civil Air Patrol and Nemours and Prevention Services.
Safe Summer Day provides hands-on interactive educational resources to adults and children, while providing health and safety lesson tips to encourage healthy living.
Wayne McCarty, Facilities Specialist/Safety Coordinator Kent County Division of Parks and Recreation says, “I’m excited to be a part of yet another Safe Summer Day event. Even after serving as Chair or Co-Chair for the past 14 years, this year it looks like projected attendance may surpass the previous years’ events. The weather forecast is favorable, and the sponsors/displayers will have something for everyone.”
Safe Summer Day is free to the public and will take place this Saturday, June 15, 2013, rain or shine.
