Kent County Levy Court Prepares to “Go Pink” in October
Dover, DE – Kent County Levy Court and its employees are preparing to participate in the National “Go Pink” campaign, which recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness annually during the month of October.
Celebrated each year at the Kent County Complex, the campaign seeks to promote awareness, encourage regular screening, and drive charitable giving for breast cancer aid and research.
Fundraising efforts include the sale of T-Shirts promoting breast cancer awareness, as well as monetary donations. Kent County employees Amy Minner, Christina Morton, and Bonnie Voshell are currently accepting orders.
County employees are asked to wear their T-Shirts every Friday during October to raise awareness about the importance of supporting the efforts to fight against breast cancer. The deadline for ordering T-shirts is Friday, September 13, 2013, and shirts can be ordered at the Kent Complex in the Planning Services Department, and at the Inspections and Enforcement counter. Adult and youth T-shirts are available for $10. Checks should be made payable to the Bayhealth Foundation.
Levy Court President, Commissioner P. Brooks Banta says, “Having a mother and mother-in-law, whom were directly affected by breast cancer, I fully endorse the compassionate efforts put forth by the Kent County Employee Council, to actively take part in the “Go Pink” campaign. Everyone should make an extra effort to support this.”
All proceeds will be divided between the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition and Breast Screening and education programs, which are administered through Bayhealth Cancer Institute.
