"Pack The Paramedic Truck" Thanksgiving Food Drive :

10/28/2013
Kent County Department of Public Safety is reaching out to the community for food donations to help support the “Pack the Paramedic Truck” food drive, being held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, and Thursday, November 14, 2013, from 9am – 3pm at Redner’s Warehouse Markets, 25 Greentree Drive, Dover, Delaware 19904. Kent County Paramedics will be on hand to collect the food donations. “Our goal is to pack a Paramedic Truck with at least 300 lbs of food,” says Cindy Grygo, Deputy Chief for Kent County Department of Public Safety. “We organized this event to do something for the community that is positive, but also goes beyond our normal scope of “911” calls and our time critical emergency duties,” Grygo said. The County is asking for non-perishable foods such as canned goods, instant mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti etc., which will later be given to the Delaware Food Bank, in support of their efforts to help supplement the food families need to celebrate Thanksgiving. The Delaware Food Bank, a non-profit agency, seeks to provide nutritious foods to Delawareans in need and to facilitate long-term solutions to the problem of hunger and poverty through community education and advocacy. “The Kent County Department of Public Safety is committed to supporting our community and the Delaware Food Bank in hopes that all families may enjoy a Happy, Healthy, and Safe Thanksgiving,” said Chief Colin Faulkner, Director of Public Safety. For a complete list of the food items acceptable for donation, the County asks that you visit the Food Bank of Delaware website at: www.fbd.org “We encourage all to come out and meet our staff and help support this very important community effort,” says Chief Faulkner. ##END### Kent County Levy Court is the executive authority in Kent County, Delaware, charged with overseeing the daily operations of county government.
