Recreation Center Grand Opening and Open House


MAY 27, 2016 - - - Kent County Parks and Recreation would like to invite the public to its Grand Opening Celebration and Open House scheduled for SATURDAY, JUNE 4 beginning at 10:30 a.m. We will start the celebration with a pep rally, ribbon cutting ceremony, and reception and then move into day long activities inside the gym and outside on the new turf field. Check out the event program for more details.

Parks and Recreation Office HAS MOVED!


MAY 27, 2016 - - - The Kent County Parks and Recreation Office has now moved to its NEW LOCATION at the Kent County Recreation Center at 1693 New Burton Rd, Dover. All walk-in and mail in registration should take place at this new location beginning Tuesday, May 31st at 8:00 a.m. Stop in and see us and take a look at Kent County's new indoor facility.

May 16, 2016 - - - The Summer 2016 Kent County Levy Court Community Newsletter and Parks and Recreation Brochure is due to go out on Thursday this week. This was a few days after our expectation. However, program registration is available online and in house as normal beginning today.


Registration will be accepted through the mail, in person, by fax or online on a first-come, first-served basis.




Cost of activity must be paid in full when registering except when stated differently. Please follow registration procedures listed below.


Online Registration can be accessed through www.kentcountyrec.com. MasterCard, Visa and Discover Card payments are processed through Element; however, refunds must be processed through Kent County Parks and Recreation; allow up to 2 weeks for processing. All other refund policies apply. Mail or Walk-in Registration Payments may be made with cash, check, money order, Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. Make checks payable to Kent County Parks & Recreation and mail or hand deliver to: 555 Bay Road, Dover, DE 19901. For your protection, please do not mail cash.



Registration fees for recreation programs/activities must be paid in advance and shall be refunded in full to the payer of record if the County cancels the program/activity. If a participant cancels his/her participation in a program at least five (5) days prior to the first scheduled day, a full refund shall be paid less a  5 processing fee pursuant to County ordinance. Refunds will not be given for any  other reason.


Kent County's 18th Annual Safe Summer Day is Coming.

Please join the many safety and health professionals on 11 June 2016 between 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. at Brecknock Park for our 18th annual SAFE SUMMER DAY 2016 event.  This event is designed to help ensure that one and all have a great healthy and safe start for the summer season.  Our event slogan for this year’s Safe Summer Day is: “DON’T BE HEALTH & SAFETY BLINDED, BE HEALTH & SAFETY MINDED”.


Activities include, Car Seat Inspection, Patriotic Presentation, Car Cutting Demo, Rescue Demo, K-9 Demo & DE State Police Helicopter (if available), Dunk Booth, Large Inflatable’s, Fire Fighting Demos, Smoke House (if available), No Zone Truck, DJ, and many more – PLUS IT IS ALL FREE.




All safety/wellness professionals and agencies are still welcome to join this year’s event. Tent space, tables and electric hookups (provided free upon request) will be available for you to display, demonstrate, or distribute any (free) safety-related information; displayers will need to bring their own chairs.  Any assistance your agency might be able to provide in the way of volunteers, prizes, literature or donations would be helpful. Park Facilities Available for Exclusive Use


Enabled through the Sports Field Rental Policy, exclusive use of athletic fields is offered at Kent County operated parks. Exclusive use affords teams, groups, or individuals, the ability to definitively schedule an event, game, or tournament on a groomed field. A monetary fee and security deposit must be submitted with an application for field rental for it to be processed. 


Procedures for Applying for Field Rentals and Concessions Permit


  • Fill out application for field rental (link on the left)
  • Submit with payment (rental fee + security deposit) to P&R Office, preferably by separate checks.
  • Requested date(s) must be inside three (3) months out and no sooner than 15 days before to be processed.
  • If concessions are requested, applicant must submit Vending/Concession Permit Application with Field Rental Application, there is no added fee for this application.
  • Parks and Recreation Director will authorize permits (Director of Community Service if absent or unable) and notify applicant of acceptance or rejection.
  • Please bring a hard copy of your permit to your scheduled event(s), even if it is multiple days.
