Kent County's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) section utilizes tools such as the ESRI product ArcGIS Desktop. The tool allows for in depth analysis of properties within the county for Planning purposes.
The tool is growing in popularity being utilized in many areas. The Department of Education uses the tool for planning school locations, bus routes, and in use with the alignment of school district boundaries throughout the County which was completed on December 20, 2007. All school districts; Caesar Rodney, Capital, Lake Forest, Milford, Smyrna and Woodbridge had boundaries realigned. Further it is being utilized in the office for the What was once done by hand is now done on the computer. Kent County plans on expanding this tool in the use for Assessment of properties; 911 Addressing for the upcoming E-911 (Enhanced 911 Addressing) for Emergency Services and more.
